Q: What is this place?
A: URLRandom is a unique way to browse the web. It's also a killer way to strike down boredom when it rears it's ugly head at 2:00am or when you're sitting at work attempting to do anything but actual work. Hey, we've all been there. It's pretty much anything you want it to be! Call it the modern cure to general malaise. We like to think we're different because of the quality of our content. The master URL Random database, contains approximately 2,800 sites and is growing everyday. All submissions (emailed or paid) are reviewed manually by a human to keep the amount of fluff at a minimum.

Q: How does it work?
A: It's easy as pie. You're already here! To get a new site, just click the URL Random Logo and something new will show up! That's it. Our configuration allows you to do pretty much anything you would in a standard web browser, so feel free to watch movies, listen to music, read the news, whatever you'd like. It's a great way to explore, kill time, and hopefully learn something new in the process.

Q: Are the websites that are showing up totally random?
A: Yes and no. About 70% of the sites that are in rotation have been added by your's truly (the Admin), the Admin's friends (mostly chronic collectors of all things weird, amusing, and informative on the web), or have been submitted via our Exchange program. Most of them have been added because of their individual content, or because someone found them cool enough to include in our database of things to explore. A percentage of them (around 10%) have paid for exposure. These are mostly blogs, artists portfolio sites, and some general entertainment sites. Paid exposure its a fantastic and inexpensive way to get your site in front of people, clean and simple! URL Random offers webmasters, marketers, and bloggers a very unique opportunity to get their content in front of new readers everyday.

Q: I'm broke, but I think my blog would be a great site to show in your rotation...what do I do?
A: Good news! In our ever expanding quest for traffic, our exchange program was set up for people just like you! It's simple, write a blog post or provide a link to urlrandom.com somewhere on the front page of your blog or website, and you'll be rewarded with view credits..currently a blog post or review with a link gets you 600 free credits. If your blog has relatively high traffic on a daily basis, you will get up to 15,000 free credits. We've even bartered for everything from T-Shirts to sketches before! For more information on how this works, send an email to exchange@urlrandom.com or just post a review with a link and then let us know. We'll get you into the rotation cycle, typically the same day.

Q: I know of a site or page that would be a great addition to your database but I don't want to pay to get it listed.
A: If you have a site that you feel is unique (Blogs don't count) such as how to learn Learn latin in 14 easy steps, or how to tie a square knot, or even an awesome YouTube video, send it in! Whe we get some downtime, we'll throw it into the rotation. Send the link to admin@urlrandom.com and indicate the URL and why you think it should be added. All requests to add blogs should be submitted under the exchange program. If you're feeling particularly nice, you can always buy 300 views for 1.00. It's these small 1.00 buys that help keep the gears of this site turning!

Q: I know of a charity that could benefit from exposure on here. What do I do?
Send an email to charityrequest@urlrandom.com with the information and the charity. All charities get a minimum of 300 free views, once approved. If you would like to buy exposure on behalf of a charity, after you check out using paypal, send an email to the Admin account indicating the PayPal ID you purchased with, the URL that you submitted and the charity name. All proxy purchases for charities will receive a 2X multiplier. i.e. If you pay for 300, you get 600.

Q: Is there a way to check the status of my remaining credits?
A: Currently, this has to be done manually, but we can normally turn around requests within 24 hours (usually it's within an hour or two). To check the status of your remaining view credits send an email to status@urlrandom.com. Please indicate the URL you are checking the status of! In the coming weeks, a user interface will be added to allow you to set up a user account, and monitor your usage.

Q:What if I find a dead link or objectionable content?
A: While we make every effort to maintain the quality of the database, things get through the cracks! If you come across something that's not exactly right, send the URL to custodian@urlrandom.com

Q: I've purchased exposure credits. When will the site start showing up in the rotation?
A: Sites are added manually after a quality review. Usually, on weekends, new additions are evaluated once every 4 hours. During the week, it's once every 12 hours. If you are paying for credits, we make every opportunity to get your site up as quickly as possible. If you have an expedition request, send it to status@urlrandom.com indicating that you have purchased and would like it expedited. Please note, that paid submissions receive top priority with regards to approvals.

Q: How do I know that you aren't just ripping me off?
A: It's simple....the proof is in the pudding! If you are currently running any type of web traffic statistical software, you'll see an entry for www.urlrandom.com /referral in your log every time your site comes up in the rotation. This is also a great way to keep track of where your traffic count lies on a monthly basis.

Q: This is all great, but my question isn't answered here.
A: Welllll, if there's anything else you need to know, want to know, or you have a burning desire to get outta your system, send an email to admin@urlrandom.com and we'll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
